I'm just saying, I have recently purchased an Antminer S4 and did a pool comparison running at 2.25 TH/s. First off BTC guild barely ever registered above 2 TH/s despite what my control panel is saying and their payouts are nearly HALF of some other pools, even other pools with a the same fee structure.

Slush's pool payed out at least 30% better than BTC guild for me due to their reward system that gives you a higher payout based on hash rate and long term use. And BTC China's pool payed out 40% more as they have no pool fees.

It just seems time and power is being wasted here by a poor choice of mining pool.

Could we start our own pool? That would solve losing some of our contributions to a third party (the pool), plus you could have non-BOINC miners attached and collect the fees from them to help with the administration of the pool and BU.

Unfortunately, we don't have enough hash power to make our pool feasible. We could go months without solving a block. The larger pools solve multiple blocks per day, so we get the smaller payouts more often. We'd have to attract many thousands of outside users to join our pool, to hope for a timely and consistent payout for our charities.

I wish there was enough of draw to start their own pool, one where they just take the 2% + extra.. I think they could easily attract a following, get the same payouts as the other pools, but this goes to science! etc etc etc..

Did you set the diff or let the pools assign it?

It would be nice to have some more discussion/testing on this, if BTC Guild is paying less then we should switch.
